One of the most famous supernatural tales of Romagna, the legend of Azzurrina originates in the splendid setting of the Rocca of Montebello in Torriana, in the hinterland of Rimini.

Over the centuries, the castle has gained a reputation as a place haunted by ghosts due to the presence of Azzurrina, or Guendalina, the little girl with “… eyes the color of the sky and light hair with bluish reflections …” who lived there with her family until 1375.

The spirit of the little girl, who disappeared at only five years old under mysterious circumstances, is said to still wander the rooms of the fortress searching for her doll… a mystery that continues to capture the imagination of the many tourists who visit each year to the marvelous castle nestled in a fairytale landscape.
