The enchanting painting "When the Heart is Young" by the English painter John William Godward was created in 1902 and today belongs to a private collection.
It's sad to think that this masterpiece has lived in total oblivion together with the rest of Godward's works and all the representatives of nineteenth-century academicism, cruelly supplanted by the more modern avant-garde experiences.
In 1922 Godward himself, at the height of the depression, committed suicide, leaving a note full of bitterness: "The world is not big enough for me and Picasso".
