Fontainebleau
Fontainebleau
The Renaissance castle of Fontainebleau is one of the most famous French royal residences. Built in the center of the city of the same name as a medieval fortress in the 12th century, it was monumentalized in the 16th century thanks to Francis I of Valois, eager to make it a masterpiece of art capable of rivaling Italian models.
Almost a "New Rome," to use the expression that Giorgio Vasari used in "Le Vite" (1568) to celebrate its splendor. The floral intertwining of this pillow of ours, with its elegant rhythm inspired by phytomorphic motifs of classical painting, reminds us of all the refinement and artistic taste that the Italian Renaissance imprint was able to give to the treasures beyond the Alps.
