But where does the meaning of this curious term that so well defines the typical beach kiosks originating from the Spanish coasts come from?
"Chiringuito" is the diminutive of "chiringo," which means "small, short, scarce." This ancient term of Antillean origin was then adopted into slang to refer to a short drink or a small cup of coffee, eventually extending by metonymy to the small bars where these were served in a very informal
