This lively and colorful graphic resembles the cross-section of an unusual type of jasper, the "kaleidoscope jasper." Discovered for the first time in 2008, this spectacular variety of quartz is extracted from only one place in the world: the mining deposit of Dale Rhode's family in Oregon.

The origin of its formation is still unclear. Some even argue that it is fossilized wood, but it is more likely to be a banded jasper, created by the alteration of silicified igneous rocks (rhyolites or rhyolitic tuffs) over many millions of years.

The choice of the name arose from our suggestion: observing the outlines of the orange streaks - similar to the clayey shore of a river - one can see the profile of a head with white hair emerging, running along the course of the blue undulations. He is the River God.
