Lilì Kangy is a famous song from the Belle Époque of Naples, brought to success by the most famous star of the late 19th-century cafè-chantant scene: Lina Cavalieri.
The lyrics humorously and playfully tell the story of the young Concetta, who revels in her success as a celebrated and irresistible singer, with a stage name inspired by the world of the Parisian stars of the Moulin Rouge: Lilì Kangy.
Here are the first three verses in the original Neapolitan dialect:
