The twilight flower is the Sunset Hibiscus (Abelmoschus manihot) - commonly known as aibika or sunset muskmallow, sunset hibiscus - with delicately shaded flowers similar to the colors that illuminate the twilight.
The plant is known for its nutritional properties and is particularly widespread in Southeast Asia as a tasty food. It is also used as a raw material in the artisanal manufacture of paper. In Japan, it is known as "tororo aoi" and is used for traditional washi paper, now recognized as a UNESCO heritage. Similarly, in Korea, where it is called hwang chok kyu, it is used to produce hanji, a paper material now particularly appreciated by stylists and designers for creating eco-friendly clothing and objects.
