The original painting "Leaning against a Column" by the English painter John William Godward dates back to 1901 and is now in a private collection in Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico.

We have dedicated it to Glaphyra, an Anatolian princess who became famous in the Augustan era for her beauty, which captivated rulers and military leaders, including Mark Antony, as recalled in the only surviving epigram from the poetic works of Octavian Augustus, passed down to us by Martial (Epigrams, XI 20, 3-8).
