Returning home is always a special moment, especially after a long and unpleasant absence.
If we consider that the Greek terms νόστος (nòstos), "return," and ἄλγος (àlgos), "pain," give rise to "nostalgia" (homesickness), we have a clear perception of how profound and irresistible the emotion is when the thought turns towards a place or a loved one to whom one wishes to return as soon as possible.
So wisely, the writer George Augustus Moore reminds us in his novel "The Brook Kerith" (1916): "A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it."
And if what we need is also a good pillow: "One doesn't realize how beautiful it is to travel until they return home and rest their head on the old, beloved pillow."(Lin Yutang, from: "A Trip to Anhwei", in With Love And Irony, 1940, p. 145)
